ハタタテダイ　学名 Heniochus acuminatus
　スズキ目 / チョウチョウウオ科 / ハタタテダイ属
英名 　Pennant coralfish、Longfin Bannerfish など。
生息域　小笠原諸島、青森県牛滝、宮城県万石浦(幼魚)、千葉県外房～九州南岸の
　　　　太平洋沿岸、富山県新湊、兵庫県浜坂～九州南岸の日本海・東シナ海沿岸、
　　　　大阪湾、伊予灘(幼魚)、屋久島、琉球列島、南大東島、朝鮮半島南岸、
　　　　済州島、台湾、香港、海南島、東沙群島、タイランド湾、インド洋～
　　　　太平洋域(ハワイ諸島・マルケサス諸島・イースター島を除く)など。

珊瑚礁域や岩礁域にて水深が15ｍ～75ｍほど、主に浅い水深の礁外縁の斜面に
ペアを成して生息しておりますが、幼魚の頃は内湾の浅い場所で観察されます。
背鰭の第4棘が著しく伸張し、体地色は白色にて体側面の背鰭第1棘から第3棘の
間の鰭膜から腹鰭までと、背鰭第4棘の鰭膜から臀鰭の軟条部にまでの黒褐色の
幅広い横帯が入り、背鰭の軟条部と尾鰭は黄色です。
また後方の横帯が臀鰭の先端より後方に入る事などで ムレハタタテダイ との
区別が可能です。
